Local interest and things to do

Within easy access of Sandsend is the historic fishing town of Whitby with its Abbey and its connections with 'Dracula' and Captain Cook.

Slightly further afield are Robin Hoods Bay, Scarborough and the pretty villages in the North York Moors. As well as spectacular walking and
country sports the North York Moors contains the steam railway made famous in the 'Harry Potter' films and Goathland, the film set for Aidensfield in 'Heartbeat'.

There is a good golf course between Sandsend and Whitby right on the cliff top and pictured below is the minature steam train at Ruswarp, which is two miles upstream from Whitby and where there are also rowing boats and canoes for hire on the river.
